Junior Fitness Academy

About a year ago, Gold’s Gym in Shrewsbury started a great program for kids called Junior Fitness Academy.  My daughter has taken the classes from the beginning and just loves to spend time exercising with her friends.  The best part about this program is that I get to work out while she’s in class!  I try to exercise during her other activities, but swim class is only a half hour, so I can get a good run in during that time.   I find that when she has class (and class is at a gym), I have no choice but to exercise, as well.

This is a perfect opportunity to meet with a personal trainer, get some cardio done on the expansive cardio deck at Gold’s (while watching your favorite morning show), to lift some weights or to take one of the many classes we offer.  Maybe this is just what you need to keep your sons/daughters busy while you have a little “mom time”.  Get in a workout, sip on a smoothie and sit in the sauna.  Doesn’t sound half bad, does it?  Please read on to get some more information about JFA at Gold’s Gym Shrewsbury:

Looking for fun activities or camps for your child or children this summer when school is out?  Worried they will spend too much time playing with electronic or computerized devices?  Worried your child doesn’t get enough daily exercise?

If you answered yes to one or all of the questions above you should check out Junior Fitness Academy offered at Gold’s Gym in Shrewsbury, PA.  The classes are designed to help children exercise while having fun.  We will use games to incorporate strength, coordination, and cooperation.  The 4-6 year olds will focus on cooperation, learning to play together.  The 7-12 year olds will gain knowledge of healthy choices and more in depth exercises through age appropriate activities.

There will be two sessions offered this summer.  The first session will run the week of June 18-week of June 9 and the second session will run the week of July 16-week of August 6.  Classes will be divided into age groups.   Session 1 the 4-6 year olds will be Mon. & Wed. 9:30-10:30am and the 7-12 year olds will be Tues. & Thurs. 10:00-11:00am.   Session 2 the 4-6 year olds will be Tues. & Thurs. 10:00-11:00am and the 7-12 year olds will be Mon. & Wed. 9:30-10:30am.  There will eight classes total in each session for only $80.00.

Childhood obesity is on the rise.  If we can instill exercise and healthy choices in our children at a young age hopefully we can stop the likelihood of our children growing up with a higher risk of developing heart disease or other health related ailments.  A lot of you parents attend the gym to improve your health, what about helping to improve your child’s at the same time?

Any questions please email Amy @ jfashrewsbury@gmail.comMention that you read this article in The Zone Magazine and you will receive $5.00 off your child’s enrollment cost.

Hope to see you there this summer!  If you need a friend to get you started in a class, I’ll be there for ya!  If you’d like to work with a trainer, we have plenty of great people to fit your individual personality.  If you want to come and be independent, that’s perfectly fine, too.
